Birding Precendent

For this project, I designed a birdhouse specifically for the tree swallow. I focused on understanding the needs of the species and turning those insights into a functional, well-thought-out structure. Considering scale, materials, and spatial organization, I aimed to create a small space that would truly support the behavior and comfort of its occupant.

This project showed me how important it is to design with the user in mind, no matter the size of the building. By observing the habits and needs of tree swallows, I was able to make thoughtful choices about the layout, openings, and materials. The project helped me learn how to balance functionality with careful design, and reinforced that even a small, simple space can greatly benefit from close attention to detail.
